I ordered this item as a Christmas gift and because of the security issues, recently revealed do not want it.
I had no idea I would have to PAY RETURN SHIPPING.
Seems unfair, selling an item with questionable security.
This was my first ever order from QVC. Obviously, it will be my last, unless I can get CUSTOMER SERVICE TO WAIVE THE RETURN FEE.
Any ideas?

A spotlight has security issues?

@MKL2235 Most of the security issues have been on the indoor models where you can see inside your home and they have been caused by someone in the home giving out the password to someone else. A child giving the password to a freind, that sort of thing.
The spotlight with a camera on it shows your yard or porch. An area anyone can see driving past your home anyway. There probably isn't much interest in hacking into it.
However, keeping your password complicated and quiet is the most important part of any security system. If you make it tough to figure out, and you don't tell anyone, it would have to be someone with a reason to want to spend the time and effort to figure it out. Probably not going to happen soon if at all.
Never use a date that is a memory to you or a family member. (birthday, anniversary, etc.)

It's been on the news that the camera type security items can be hacked and people can watch or listen to you. Even Alexa.
My son gave me Furbo, the dog treat camera and I unplug it when I'm home.

@MKL2235 unfortunately that's the way returns work at QVC. If the product is defective or you weren't sent they right item they will refund the original shipping and not charge the Q label shipping. Otherwise you will be charged. You could take it the the Post Office and see if it's cheaper for you to pay for it there and not use their label.
Maybe call customer support and see if they will give you a refund/credit. Or ask a mod here on the forums for help.

@1Snickers. Spotlights are generally used outside. Who's going to spy on your driveway or back yard?

I don't see a loop hole for your situation. I saw the article on the security breach surrounding ring.

@1Snickers. I guess it depends on how enticing your back yard activities sound. Do you have a hot tub? Mine consist of two dogs chasing each other around.

There was a report in the news of some young boys playing basketball in their front driveway and a male voice starting talking to them and trying to get them to come closer to the doorbell camera, where he could 'see' them better.
DD has the doorbell one and she cares for a feral cat colony. Every time one of the cats walks past it, they get an alert.
Her house is not set back very far from the street, so she gets alerts for cars driving by or the neighbor across the street mowing their lawn.
They now just ignore the alerts, so it was a waste of money for them.
