Questions about using CCleaner----

I've finally installed CCleaner and would like to ask a few questions about it before actually using it for the first time. Would those of you who have this recommend using the default settings (items already checked) under "Windows" and "Applications" ? If not, what would you uncheck? And, should I use the registry cleaner or leave that for someone more knowledgeable than me to do? Thanks for any help with this.

I've always just used the defaults, and don't do the registry cleaner.

Re: Questions about using CCleaner----

I've used it for so long that I don't remember if I changed anything, but I don't think I did.

I use the reg cleaner, after doing the other, though but I don't think it's necessary.   After updates, especially, there is a lot of debris left behind so I just do it for the heck of it, I guess.  Any little bit helps, I figure.

That said, however, I'm not one to get into the registry and mess with stuff!  I know my place and that would be above my pay grade.   Smiley Happy

Re: Questions about using CCleaner----

Over the years I got braver. When I started out I just did the default recommended scrub, but after a few years I started experimenting and did use the Registry Cleaner and whatever else the free version might offer. At worst it might have effected a game or something I never used; I don't recall that using the program ever did anything irretrievably bad to my programs or HD. I don't really recall any issues with using all parts of it.

Re: Questions about using CCleaner----

Thanks everyone for answering. I'll go ahead and use the default settings and leave the registry alone. As chickenbutt said, that's above my pay grade.

Special thanks to Gokat and Nutmeg3 for the helpful links. Much appreciated!

Re: Questions about using CCleaner----

I have system mechanic and use the registry cleaner  often especially if i dounload and delete  a lot of items.  If your computer gets slow and sluggish the registry cleaner should  fix that. it will not harm your pc.
