Question regarding computer running slower and slower...

This laptop is new... it was running like a dream until about a week ago... now I wait and wait for pages to load.

The Q site requires that I re-sign in every single time I'd like to view another page... so, I'm beginning to get discouraged.

My last laptop developed a bad hard drive within 12 months, started giving me a warning message, but the symptoms started the same as this computer (different brand).

How does one speed up their computer if it starts running slowly?

How does one know if the computer's hard drive is preparing to crash?
