Question about iphone update

This is my 1st smartphone and apple. When I go to up date it says to down load to put my app's on my PC. How do you do this? I only have free app's and the app's it came with. I got the icloud on the pc so they will go there but will they still come back on the phone?

Hope I said all this right.
