I have an HP Envy 5530 printer and can print wirelessly with my iPad Air, and my Kindles. I have had my Samsung Chromebook Pro for 2 months and can't print anything. When I try to print anything it says the printer has been offline for a month. Do I need to download the app to my chromebook in order to print? It's really bothering me that I can not print anything from my chromebook.

When I bought my Chromebook I had to call the printer company. They helped me through the process. Most printers do not have setup instructions for Chromebooks.

It's a Chromebook, you have to call the printer company's c.s. line and they will install it for you.

Hi @Jordan2,
There is a certain way to do it between Chromebooks and printers if they're Cloud-ready printers, and if they're wireless, too.
Here's a link from HP, on how to do it.
It references an Acer Chromebook, but it should still be able to help you:
I understand your frustration, as I've had to try to do this with my own Chromebook, but with a different kind of printer that is Cloud-ready and will sometimes work, but then not work, so it has been a frustrating experience for me. ![]()
Editing to add, that if you're still having trouble, then I would try asking Google Tech. Support for help. They're a toll free call.

@Toppers3, thanks for the advice. I have checked out some articles (I haven't yet looked at the link you provided), I followed what they said, but it hasn't worked. I went in to Best Buy, asked a salesperson if my printer was too old, he said he didn't think it was. He suggested I download the HP Printer app. Usually I just print from my iPad.

Hi @Jordan2,
If you get a chance to look at the link that I referenced for you, it does tell you that your particular HP printer is a Cloud-ready printer for your Chromebook, so it should be able to be set up that way.
It gives you the steps for setting it up that way.
I don't know anything about the HP App. The steps that are provided in the link are the ones that you would take to try and set it up through Google Cloud print, if you want to try it that way.
You can also try and set it up to print through HP's website, and you can set it up to print through HP, instead.
It would still print, but it would print a bit differently then, as opposed to directly printing through Cloud print with your Chromebook directly. I hope that that makes sense.
It can be done this way in case you don't have a Cloud-ready printer, so that you can still use your printer. So, there's more than one way to do this, is what I am trying to say.
All of this can get a bit tricky and a bit complicated. Been there, done that. ![]()
I'm just trying to give you what I think are the easiest ways to try and do it, from my own personal experiences, and to try and save you some additional frustration.
As I mentioned, if you need additional help, you can always call Google Tech. Support and they can help you out, too. ![]()
I've called them when I've needed help, and they're really nice and helpful.
