Printer Won't Print After Rebooting Modem And Router

[ Edited ]

Today I set up a new TV and Tivo.  The Tivo wouldn't set up immediately, and I had to reboot the modem and router.  I have a feeling that's when the printer stopped printing.

I have a Netgear router and Comcast modem.  My printer is a Canon, and it has Air Print.  Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get the printer running again?

I did Google this, and all I could find was people who had a new router and now their printer wouldn't work.  I don't have a new router, so those questions/answers don't apply to my situation.

did you try entering the wifi password again on the printer?

That would be my suggestion.  However, I have  a Canon printer and Netgear and after having a storm once and my server people putting mine all back together again because I could get nothing to work, my printer has never worked again unless I turn it off 3 times.  Who knows what the deal is?  But that works.  It's just something I found out by accident.  The server people say there is nothing wrong with their connection.  Must have been something that changed in the printer.  I just do what I have to do.

@Nonametoday and @sunshine45  I really don't know much about technical things, so I have a stupid question.  How would I enter the wifi password again on the printer?

The printer is displaying the message:  "The latest firmware is on the server."  I pressed OK and tried to print again, and nothing happened.

you have to go into your settings on your printer and find where you can input your wifi password. you may want to google "canon printer wifi setup" and make sure to also include your printer model in the search. you can usually find step by step instructions this way.

NAT:  Or know the exact Canon printer that you have.  It is on the printer.   I think it is on the top left-hand side.  Go to youtube and ask for directions on entering your wifi number into your printer.  I always google or youtube because I have a hard time reading the printed directions in my instructions.  Also, keep your modem/wifi numbers in your iphone with all numbers.  I keep all my passwords there and numbers, medicines except the bank and credit card numbers which are kept in our little home vault.

P.S.  Have you tried unplugging everything from each other and replugging, including unplugging from the wall?  That will allow everything to reboot.

I didn't catch if you tried just turning the printer off, and after a few minutes, turning it on again.  This will reset some printers.

Re: Printer Won't Print After Rebooting Modem And Router

Hi,  I have a NetGear Router and the same thing happened to me. I called Netgear tech support and Dell tech support, and they were no help at all. I uninstalled the printer software on my computer, then went to the printer manufacturer website and downloaded the software and drivers for the printer. I then entered the SSID for the router and password and now my printer works. It is a pain to have to do that, but that seems to be the only solution to the probllem. Hope that helps.
