Are you using the pop-up blocker in Windows?  It's pretty effective but not foolproof.  I'd like to suppress all ads - some websites are so loaded with ads and videos, they take forever to load.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have an answer for you because I have the exact same problem.  It doesn't matter what site I'm on, I'm overwhelmed with annoying pop ups that interfer with my ability to read.  Sometimes I'll click to get rid of one and another will pop up and it's not only a nusiance but a waste of my time.  I hope someone here will have an answer for us.            docsgirl

Not sure which pop ups people are getting, as there are several threads about this and most don't specify.

But I use 'Adblock Plus' with Chrome and IE.   It is probably compatible with other browsers, but I don't use them so it's easy to find out if it's compatible with your browser.

It does a good job!  If there's one thing (ok, there are more) that I cannot stand it's flash banner ads and the other ads and pop-up ads that show up on a lot of websites.

I wanted to add - if there is anybody wishing to use 'Adblock Plus', when you search it, be sure you choose the right thing.  It's spelled exactly like that, with no characters in there.  One time I almost installed something that called itself that, but there was something different - like one extra character or something.

A lot of bad guys call their stuff something very much like something else and, if you're not paying proper attention, it's easy to choose the wrong one.  Smiley Happy

I enjoyed "Plus" from your recc, @chickenbutt Smiley Happy, but now use "Adblock Pro" on Chrome.

As well as "Adguard AdBlocker" and "Webmail Ad Blocker".

Popups can be a sign of malware on your computer.  I'd suggest you update and run your security programs.
