Please Help! Google DUO NOW GOOGLE MEET

for a few years now i used Google Duo to do video chats.

Now on my PC the Google Menu has replaced Duo with Google Meet.

i avoid using my Tracfone for family video calls because the video chats burn Tracfone Minutes AND Data.

i would sign in to the Duo chat on my Desktop with my google email and chat from my PC.

i Duo called my family member using their cell phone #

Now with Google Meet there is no way to make a call using my PC. When i log into Google Meet, there is just a static handset icon and the screen.  Similar to Zoom i guess?

Any suggestions for a workaround would be helpful.

Idk how to help you with your problem, and I'm not sure I even understand it. But I regularly used Google Meet for video chats for work & at home on my laptop until late 2021, when my family & I decided to switch to Skype.

@Desert Lily

did you use a phone number or were you all on tablets or desktops?

from what i can see on my end a emailed meeting invitation must be generated and then accepted by participants.

ideal for business meetings but clunky with toddlers running around.

@CatsyCline   Yes, the invitations are via email for those, not phone numbers. But, you can walk around with your phone or your laptop if you've downloaded the apps or app you want to use. Some of my friends have iphones but I have Android, so we had to find a format that worked for both. You don't have to sit in one place. My realtor and my sibling showed me houses & finishing options that way. Skype or Google Meet worked great for us.
