Playing games and maybe an e-reader

I am at a loss as to what electronic gadget to buy for myself when I'm away from my computer. I don't need to surf the web or e-mail anyone. But, I do have my favorite games from such sites a luminosity and other brain games sites (some require Flash), and I like to read. I don't want to spend an exhorbitant amount of money just to read and play games. Any suggestions as to what gadget may be best for what I want to do?
