Can anyone recommend a good device to transfer photograhs to my phone and/or computer?  I have TONS and some are old and beginning to fade...I am not tech savvy so something easy to use would be appreciated.  Thanks.

@bargainsgirl  You need to advise us where are the photos from?

Old school Photo Album?

Digital/Kodak, Poloroid, etc camera?

Camcorder?

Re: Photo scanner

[ Edited ]

My BF tried to do this w/two different scanners.  He didn't want to spend a lot of money on a scanner and both ended up broken and returned. I think the ones he purchased were under $200.

Looking forward to see what other recommend.

Lots of old pics taken with various instant cameras since the 1970's and some from my parents way before then.

The easiest thing to do is take a picture of each photo with the best device camera you have.  Then use a usb device like picture keeper to put them all on one drive.  You can always print from your phone or tablet using photo paper.  My cousin teaches photography at the U of Maine and that's what he advised ,e to do with all the photos our Dads (brothers) left us.

I did get any slides (yes that old) printed as photos because they were brittle.

I got Picture Keeper from QVC. Download the app to your phone and plug it into the charging port on your phone. I am not text savvy but was able to scan picture to my phone. After you scan the picture you can enlarge, erase background or people and colorize black and white photos. Making family album I was was able to get good results on photos that are over 100 years old. Watch some of the online presentations. I hesitated for over a year and am so glad I tried it.

I bought an Epson photo and slide scanner when I was going through all the photos and slides from my parents' estate. It was pricey, but the scans were good.

I also scanned some old photos with my Brother printer/copier and they came out looking good.

I second @Tori3569 's advice. Perhaps the best strategy is to photograph them with a good camera. If you have slides, project them and take a pic. You'll get a much more complete image than if you use a commercial slide scanner or even if you send them out to be professionally scanned.

I have pictures of old family photos that relatives took with their iphone and e-mailed to me. I uploaded them to one of the cheap photo printing web sites and the pictures that came back were great.
