I received an offer from Optimum that sounds like a good deal, at least on the surface.

However, I am wondering about the reliability of the their service and frequency of price increases.

The offer is a guaranteed rate for one year but in addition to the price it also states that is "plus taxes, fees and charges" with no hint of what the fees and charges might be.  Anyone know?

Any thoughts and information about Optimum will be very much appreciated.

I have Optimum.I've had it for many years when it was known as Cablevision. The actual service is good. They do raise the rates each year. I end up calling & threaten to leave & they offer me a discount or some free services for a year.Taxes are usually in the area of $10-$15 .

I have had Optimum (Cablevision) for almost 20 years.  I like the fact that there is no contract.  They do raise rates, but I call and ask if there are any special promotions.  They usually find something - I just got another movie channel for free.

We've had Optimum since they came to our city - at least 20 years ago.  We have NEVER had a problem with outages or service. We pay an arm and a leg for all we have ($260/month), which DH says is OK since we don't spend a lot on any other entertainment.

@spent2much  We've also had it forever. I think ours is about $230.00 or around there. It's for cable, internet and landline.

@proudlyfromNJ Yes, we also use their cable, internet and landline.  An outrageous price, huh?  Woman Sad

@spent2much   I'm appalled by what I spend for Internet, TV, landline, and cell phone.   For the 20+ years I was a snowbird, I used Cablevision/Optimum in the summer and Comcast/Xfinity the rest of the year.  The difference in price and service between the two was negligible.

I am in one place now.  ATT installed fiber optics in our development and is begging for business.  There's an HOA contract with Xfinity right now for TV;  there have been so many major changes to deal with that I haven't tried yet to see what I could save by changing my contract for the rest of the services, but it's nearing the top of my agenda.

I did use ATT for them years back and quit because their billing department didn't cope well with my on again, off again usage.  Might work now, but the hours of time I spent on the phone with them is the reason I haven't jumped back in.
