Not Using My iPad Air To The Fullest

I haven't had my iPad for very long but am feeling overwhelmed. I'm not tech savvy in the least. I was reading the user guide and thought my head would explode! It's a lot of information to take in all at once. Maybe some of you (who are much smarter than I) can give me some basic information and tips on what I need to know. I would apppreciate this very much!

Re: Not Using My iPad Air To The Fullest

Hi, I have another question! I have an iPad Air that has cellular capability. The iPad keeps asking if I want to enable it. If I do open an account do I get charged right away or is it for future use? I am using wi-fi right now and don't plan on using the cellular option yet.TIA

I have the cellular option on my iPad also. I got it for "just in case it's needed" purposes. But knew that most of the time I would be using wifi and wouldn't needed. I have never activated mine, so can't speak to how fast you are charged. I would assume yes, you would be charged immediately. However I wanted to let you know that I turned the cellular setting to off in the settings app. This way the thing that pops asking you if you want to sign up stops. If I ever do need the cellular, I turn that to on again, and then sign up through that to activate it.

Yes, you would be charged immediately. I don't know why it keeps asking if you want to activate it. Under settings, cellular data, do you have it turned off? It should be off.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Thanks Lynnj and gidgetgoeshawaiian for your replies. I am going to turn it off in settings. I just learned how to shut off my in apps purchases. I feel like I learn something new frequently.

jordan2, thanks for posting. I don't have an iPad yet but I will gladly read the threads posted here.

Honestly, I'm really not too technically challenged, but find it so much easier to learn from real person vs a user manual. I am still trying to figure out how to get the most out of my MacBook Pro and it has been two years.

I agree, allegheny. I also find it much easier to learn from real people. Just got a MacBook Air last year. Switched from using PC all my life. Still learning how to use it, but I find it fun to learn this new technology, and am fascinated by what computers and other gadgets can do nowadays.

Re: Not Using My iPad Air To The Fullest

Lynnj,

I hate user manuals if they are longer than 20 pages.

I am embarrassed to say that I haven't really looked at my car's users' manual since I purchased it in August. I just push buttons trial and error. In fact my husband told me I had a heated steering wheel and my mouth dropped open.

I can't believe when i was younger I actually used to enjoy reading tax preparation instructions.

And don't get me started on the differences between my PC and the Mac. But now so much time has passed I have lost a lot of my PC mojo.
