Not Receiving email on cell phone

I'm not receiving my email on my cell phone, when I went into settings it said that I changed my password but I did not change the password.  Could my phone possibly have been hacked?  Should I take it to the phone store?  I didn't want to change the password in case it's been hacked, everything else on the phone is working, texting, talking on it, getting into the internet.  What should I do, any advice would be apreciated! I am getting my email on my laptop.  Thanks!

Okay. To start with, if you're still getting your email on your laptop your email password wasn't changed with your email providers. You wouldn't get your email on your laptop if that was the case. So, there's no real fear your phone was hacked. The best first move in every case is to restart the phone. See what happens. That often fixes issues. If not, then go into your email settings on your phone and reenter your known good email password that you use on the laptop. If that fixes the issue, kudos! If not, there are more steps to try.

Some companies (I talking to you Yahoo!) have decided to do weird stuff with email passwords. They make you get an app password before you can use your email password to get your email. Why do they do that? To annoy consumers. (Well, I'm sure they have some other reason, but it annoys customers.) Now, you may say, "I don't use Yahoo for my email." Eh, you might even if you don't know it. Yahoo does verizon.net emails and others also, so you could be a Yahoo email client without really knowing it. If that's the case, then lots of Googling and using the FAQs and help on your email provider site may eventually help you resolve the issue.

If it's not an app password issue (and there are lots of app password issues) then uninstalling and reinstalling your email app to the phone may solve your issue. Sometimes programs get buggy. I have multiple email apps on my phone. Dedicated ones for my Google email, for my Verizon/Yahoo email, and for my Hotmail email. And yes, they're all synced together to work seamlessly, until one doesn't.) As a rule on my phone, I use Outlook for my emails. If Outlook is having an issue, I have the others to fall back on. It's always good to have a backup plan.

If any/all of those don't work, post back and we'll see if there's anything else to try.
