Nook Color Screen Went Black?

We have a Nook color hubby was playing a game screen went black no warning just black does anyone know why? the screen has a glow to it we plugged in the charger it is green but the screen is still black. Warranty expired on Nov 23 did the Nook color go bad after one year. Does anyone know what the problem could be.
