According to GeekWire, the new functionality Echo $179.99 at Amazon owners are getting this week is an intercom feature. Once enabled, it allows you to assign a name to each Echo you own and then activate the speaker on any of them remotely with a voice command. For example, if you are in the kitchen and you want to chat with someone in the living room, you could simply say "Alexa call the living room." A link is established between the two Echo devices and an intercom chat can happen.

Amazon is slowly rolling out the intercom feature over the next few days starting with the Alexa app. That means you can intercom with an Echo device using the Alexa app on iOS or Android devices, which therefore allows an intercom link to be established when you aren't at home.

DH thinks she stupid because she can hardly ever answer questions he asks. LOL!!! For starters he kept calling her Alexis & she would not reply. DH says you just have a device in the bedroom that who know who is listening. Big Brother has already been spying on us before I bought the Dot.

I only bought it so I could control the air/heat while sleeping. If I wake up hot I don't want to get up to turn it on because then I'm awake & cannot go back to sleep. It will come in handy come winter & I can turn the heat on before getting up in the cold house.

We ditched our Alexa's during the 30 trial of a ts on hsn. Didn't use them much, and we have cordless phones in each room we use regularly. Our home is pretty big and add on the patio room, hard to know where each of us is residing, at times. Part of the reason we bought these 4 phones years ago.

I had an Echo at work and an Echo at home in my kitchen and a dot in my bedroom.  I  LOVED those!!!

When I found out they were coming out with the new Echo Show, I sold my Echo at work and my Echo at home (kitchen).  I still have my dot and I moved that into my kitchen for my 2 Echo Shows to arrive.  I bought 2 Echo Shows and got the $100 off.

So here I am with only my dot and I'm waiting for my Echo Shows to arrive (today).  I've been out of my 2 Echos for a month.

I miss them so much.  I totally depended on them for so many things.  My main uses are the timers, alarms/reminders and the shopping list. 

At work the alarms and reminders were used constantly so I wouldn't for get important stuff!

Anyway, I'll be back in business today sometime.  I keep watching my phone to see if I got a notification from amazon that they have been delivered.

BTW, regarding the new Alexa Skill...I think I will sit this Show on the floor and point it to where my dog sleeps all day.  I can periodically check in on her and talk to her.  At least I think I can do that.  Not totally sure.

We have the Alexa dots.. white and black. We use them for news weather and alarms. I am not really interested in getting anymore Alexa devices.

I pre ordered in April and Prime members were offered release day delivery. It's pretty awesome. You'll enjoy it when it does arrive.

I have the 2nd gen black DOT which stays in my bedroom.  The BT speaker goes from the bathroom to the kitchen. 

Like Apple1984, I have no need for another AI device.
