Negative experience with CCleaner?

I think I need to use CCleaner on my laptop.  I've never used this program before on any of my laptops/desktops.  Has anyone ever had a negative experience with it?

Re: Negative experience with CCleaner?

I've used it multiple times with no trouble. It got me out of a very confusing issue I had many years ago. A failed install of Kaspersky antivirus had changed a registry entry for Windows Installer that made it unreliable. (It would install most programs fine then not install others.) Long discussions with multiple Microsoft experts had us all scratching our heads. Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Installer failed to fix the issue. Finally I read someplace that registry issues weren't necessarily fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling, so I used the regstry cleaner part of CCleaner and the problem was gone. It was like a miracle.

I luv CCleaner. It cleans up a computer's temp files very well. I do not use the registry tool.

I've used it on all of my computers for several years now and haven't had any negative experiences at all.  I just use the free version.

ETA - After I clean up with CCleaner, I use the Auslogics Defragging program to defrag.  It does a good job and a lot faster than the Windows defragger.

I've used the free version regularly for years (on both a notebook and a netbook), and have never had an issue.

I downloaded it from CNET.

Re: Negative experience with CCleaner?

I just tried it last night and I couldn't believe what it cleaned out (I try and be good about scheduling/doing it myself) and my laptop is running much better.  Can't believe this is for free, thanks so much for everybody's input!
