I've had Outlook mail for years......never had any problems. Now, I haven't been able to send any mail since last Monday. Whenever I reply to an e-mail or even send a new one, it just sits in my Outbox and says it's sending 1 0f 1. It sits there forever and never does send it. I have no clue what to do. I've unplugged everything and started over several times, have not changed any Outlook settings, so I'm clueless. I still receive mail and am able to delete, move to folders, etc. with items, but forget it if I want to send a new one or reply to a received one. Anyone out there have a clue to what might be happening?

It could be that your internet provider (Comcast, Verison, etc) changed a setting. Try googling "Configure Outlook (version) for (internet provider) email" (put in the version of Outlook you have, i.e. 2003, 2010, etc. and your internet provider, so something like "configure outlook 2003 for Comcast" (without the quotes) and see if it will show you the settings you need.
This just happened with my mom and it turned out her Outgoing Server number changed and I had to update her settings.

Are you using this at home? We have an occasional problem with our router not communicating with our modem. When this communication breaks down, some of the packets still pass through, but most do not. It seems like your internet is "up", but you aren't getting all your data. I notice it the most with e-mail.
Our ISP tech told me to shut down both modem and router. Then re-start the modem first and wait until you have all the lights steady on it. Then re-start the router. This will re-set the connection between the two for optimum "passing of packets".

Yes, this has happened to me a few times also. I have Comcast. I just shut down "send" and then re-send and it usually goes right through. It is annoying though, and I haven't a clue.

After a long time on the phone with my internet provider, it was determined my settings were correct.....still not able to send mail......contacted Microsoft and they were able, after I gave pemission for them to control my computer and pay them, to go into my Outlook and fix whatever was going on.....apparently an upgrade that ran in my security or an update run by HP to my computer must have changed something that caused my Outlook not to let me send mail.....I wasn't happy to have to pay anything, but at least it's working ok now.

Every now and then the settings for Outlook are impacted by this, so not every update will impact Outlook. All you needed to do was to reconfigure your outlook settings. Even if it looks like all fields are correct, clearing the field and re-entering the same information often helps to reset things.

I'm saving your note for future reference........thanks!! Believe it or not, I was tied up with both internet provider and Microsoft for 3 hours.......I felt like I'd worked a 12-hr. day.
