Need new TV

The flat screen I bought with my condo died. It sounded like a small transformer exploding.

I don't have HD & usually watch it without my glasses to give the skin on my nose a break from glasses.

Does anyone know of a lower cost, reliable LCD brand that is "good enough" for someone who does not care about surround sound nor the latest & greatest screen?
