NEED REC'S -- FIRST SMARTPHONE

I have to start considering this, even though I love my LG phone.   It's getting older.

When smartphones first came out, I passed because everyone I saw using one was frowning and confused when ever they looked at their phone.  No one looked like they were having fun, that's for sure!

Then I postponed smartphone shopping because everyone was always complaining about their batteries going dead.   WHY can't they make a battery that stays charged for at least a couple days?   Why can't they make a better battery?

There are still other considerations, but the last one I'll post is ...... HOW do you choose one?   They all do pretty much the same thing, right?

Is there some special feature on your smartphone that you really really love?    Isn't all about the apps you use?   If not, why do some people trade in their phones every 3 to 6 months?

This can give anyone a headache!

I never had a desire to get one until I was issued one at the health insurance company I worked for...I fell in LOVE with my iphone 5S!

The day I had to turn it in after the seasonal job ended was the day I marched into the Apple Store and got my own. It turned out that with my Sprint contract, it was free - the 6 would have cost an extra $99.

It is SO handy...I can check my work e-mail much easier than the Blackberry I had years ago...I use the music feature and weather a lot too.

Go for it - you'll never look back!

I just got my first iPhone, an Apple 5S, last month. I had been using what I referred to as my dinosaur flip phone for years and had taken many valuable pictures with it. When the AT&T people said they could transfer the photos to a new phone I signed on. Since I have an iPad, the learning curve was fairly simple. I've always found Apple products more intuitive than any other. I taught myself the iPad with no help so I approached the phone the same way. I am sure I don't use half the features but I don't care. I phone, I email I text, I access the Internet. I've even spoken to SIRI a few times. Don't worry about not learning everything the phone does. Just use what you need...much less daunting when it comes to learning. And by the way, I signed a two-year lease. I have no need to have the latest new thing. At night I charge it and all is fine. I think those who have battery trouble have their phones permanently attached to their bodies. I don't.

Re: NEED REC'S -- FIRST SMARTPHONE

I have the IPHONE 5 and have had it since it first came out.

My friend who has a phone that was made when Jesus walked the earth is going to go with me while I get the new IPHONE 6S.  I'm hoping she'll get one too.  She is very practical and although she has more money than she can spend is very practical.  I have no trouble reminding her she has no children, no husband and needs to enjoy her life (like I do)!

The world is about to open up for her.  I love my phone.  A few weeks ago I was in bed watching TV, it was around 12:30AM (I stay up late) and I got the bubble sound that I was being FACE TIMED!  Suddenly Britany Spears was dancing and singing to me.  The lights were beautiful and the audience was groving!

It was my daughter #3 (I call her).  She was in Las Vegas to run a race for charity and went to see Britany.  She wanted to share it with me!  Then I toured the Grand canyon and Hoover ****** in a helicopter with her.  Stood in the middle of the Baligio (sp) in Las Vegas as the fountains danced and music played.  It was amazing!

A day or two later daughter #2 had me share in making cookies and her oldest 9 year old have her sleepover.  I got to meet facetime with her friends!  Her husband flies his own plane and this summer I got to fly all around the Statue of Liberty and along the East Coast as they headed home to Florida.  It was as if I was sitting in the plane next to them!

Technology is wonerful!  I don't understand people who don't take advantage of it!  These days families are spread everywhere.  Technology helps us stay closer and when we do get together there is no awkardness of "you've changed" because you were 'there' for the changes.

Good for you on your new purchase.  I know you will enjoy having it.  Make sure you use everything you can do on it.  It's an amazing piece of technology.

Something funny.  I've been 'butt dialed' a few times (that's where the button was accidentally hit and you are there and the person doesn't know it.  It seldom happens but it is funny when it does.  I listen in a second and then disconnect because it's rude to keep listening.  You can make it so it won't happen so don't worry about it.

Please let us know when you get it and how much you love it because you will if you're not afraid of it!

Okay .... hmmmm .....  one more consideration.

The other day I read that it's probably better to NOT get an apple phone, because if you ever want out, getting your contacts out of their cloud is a nightmare.   I don't know if I want a "committed relationship" with apple!

Anyone love their andriod smart phone?

Android is the #1 Operating System on Smart Phones, not the more expensive ones that start with an "i". They do things differently, but for me. When I can buy a Samsung Smart Tracfone, with a years service for less than $80, why would spend $300-$500+ for an "i" smart anything?

I'll stick with keeping more of my money in my pocket, and giving up nothing of use to me, and also my wife. She has one of Samsungs top Androids, and pays $35 a month for unlimited everything, except data, which never gets even close to her max monthly limit.

I really enjoy using my Note 5. I do the normal phone things with it. I play games,  watch TV shows using my home network, and take pictures.

Re: NEED REC'S -- FIRST SMARTPHONE

My friend has the Note phone something or other.  That thing is big!  I can do everything on my IPHONE she can do on that big thing!  She loves it so that's what matters.  I have arthritis so wouldn't like holding on to the big thing.

I don't know anything about getting out of the IPHONE.  I get a 2 year contract because I'm lazy and I just want to be able to use the @#$  thing and not worry about changing things.

I have Verizon and so does my #3 (youngest daughter).  She has traveled to Africa and all parts of the US.  We never had any trouble connecting (even in the middle of some of these ski resorts she goes to).  She'll call and say, "I'm not sure if I'll have phone service"  but sure as shootin' she does!

My little sister (she's in her mid 50's) just got a new IPHONE 6 because her phone failed on her.  She handed it to me and I showed her a few things about it.  (This was a case of the blind leading the blind)!  Ha!

She was amazed she'd not used some of it.  If you do get one, use it.  Get what's best for you.  Listen to everyone, feel them, hold them, but get what YOU want not what someone thinks you should get.  That way you only have yourself to blame if it stinks.

I'm hard headed that way.  I can usually find someone else to blame though!

I text constantly to friends and family.  Short things like, "Good morning, have a great day".  Just to say, "thinking of you".

Sometimes myself, my 2 daughters (in different states) will text all three together, then her husband joins in from Miami (on business).  They send pictures in the middle of the day about my grandchildren.  I love it all.

The thing I've found about Apple and I talk to total strangers all of the time (can you guess).  99% of Apple users are loyal to Apple.  I don't know many who change over unless it's because they have to change over.  Everything in my life is Apple and I love it.

Re: NEED REC'S -- FIRST SMARTPHONE

My sister complained about her battery going dead and I showed her how to go into it and change some of her settings.  She was using juice she didn't need to have on.  That's probably their problem.

I also have extra battery's if I need them.  (Facetime draws on the battery).  Not a big deal, plug it in and off you go.  They cost as little as $10 to bring along, but you won't need it if you check to see what you're connected to (save your juice).

Re: NEED REC'S -- FIRST SMARTPHONE

I have the LG Sunset L33L. It works for me since I hardly use it. DH has the same phone & loves it. He wants another one so he can use one as his phone & one just for music. LOL!!! I don't know why he does not use his iPod for music. I know this phone does lots of things that I have no idea how to do. Tracfone now has where you can buy separate talk mins, data mins or text mins. These mins will not triple. DH is going to add 3000 talk mins for $90 with 90 days service. He will probably add 1000 text mins for $10. I don't know how long they have been doing this. I just noticed it last month.
