@gidgetgh ---what generation is the newest  ipad now--I think mine are gen 8---

The new iphone is not much different than my 11 so far----I am not one that has their complete life on a phone--have a few things and use it as my home phone but will see what it has to offer. DD knows way more than me about it, so will see what she suggests--I do like new tech--even tho I am not that tech savy. Had to laugh about losing your mind---I was just going to ask questions and then think about it-----yeah, right!!!Woman Tongue

@wagirl - the iPad pro is generation 6.

I am home for the Apple Store with my new iPad Pro. They were actually able to get it to start charging, but went ahead and fought a new one, 12.9". I got a good trade in for the old one since they were able to get it to start charging, something I was unable to do at home, using 2 different chargers.

@gidgetgh @I am having the same problem with my IPad ( not a pro) it just won't load and starts to but doesn't open. I am going to look for an iPad Pro, if I am sure it isn't my internet connection which is not the greatest. Tried all the tricks u did without success. I use my iPad for everything. I don't have a computer.

@Rose429 - I absolutely love having the iPad Pro.  That's what my old one was and Inreolaced it with the same thing.

@Rose429,  There are several other things you might want to try that could clear up the problems you describe,

such as the "Reset Network Settings" (perfectly safe, will shut down and reboot the iPad and then you'll need to reconnect to WiFi with your password);

or a sync/backup of the device (cleans out a massive amount of "Analytics Data" that can cause problems) if you haven't done that lately;

or erase/reset the iPad and restore it from a good backup (I just did that for my 2018 iPad 6 a few weeks ago and it substantially improved performance).

Of course, if you want a new one that's fabulous and I surely understand -- love my Apple products!  But you still might want to get the current one working better, even if just as a backup device for you.

Wishing you the best, whatever your decision.😊

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, @gidgetgh

I'm sorry you had to go through that, but it sounds like it worked out well.

A year or so ago I dropped my 2018 iPad 6 while it was charging.

The end of the cable where it was plugged into the device hit the leg of a desk and yanked the plug out of the iPad with a hard sideways jerk... and, evidently, slightly bent the connector inside the device.

Since then, at times it doesn't immediately start charging or it stops and I have to jiggle the plug to make the connection tight.

(I think I didn't describe that well, but maybe it made some sense!)

So I did that to myself, clumsy me!  But I understand how you feel because I'd hate to think of suddenly losing the use ot it.

So far it's okay, and my ancient iPad 3 (from 2012) still works pretty well as a simple backup device and it still charges like a champ.

Thanks, again -- it's a good reminder to all of us to have a good, current backup and also to have a plan in case a device we rely on suddenly decides to go kaput.

Hope everyone reading and posting here has a lovely evening!😊
