My Passwords Are Out Of Control! Any Help?

My password situation is out of control now.  I used to know them all and it's just exploded recently.  Part of the problem is they fill in nicely on my mac air, but not so much on my IPHONE.

What am I doing wrong--or not doing?  I don't always use applications on my phone, so a lot of what I do would be just through Safari, but these passwords don't always cross over between computer and phone--but they are in the cloud?

Am I missing something here?  How do you do it?  Have you even had passwords compromised?

Most of the websites I need passwords for, I don't access on my phone (screen too small).  I keep a notebook near my laptop, where I have written all my passwords.  This irony is not lost on me.

I don't use my phone very much for logging into accounts where I need a password.  The screen is too small.  I either use my laptop or 8" tablet.  I have a spreadsheet with all my passwords.

Re: My Passwords Are Out Of Control! Any Help?

There are a few ways you can manage this. If you always ask the iPhone to save your passwords when you create one, you can manually retrieve them at any time. Go to Settings --> Passwords & Accounts and you will find a list of all your sites and apps and the login and password info. You can read or copy it and use it anywhere. There's a search field at the top of the page, so you can search for a site/app if your list is very long.

You can also use a service like 1Password. You use one master password to get into 1Password and then it encrypts and saves all of your passwords. The benefit of 1Password is that you can use it on a computer OR a phone. If you set it up in your browser and log in, it will manage your passwords automatically. The service costs around $30 a year to cover all of your devices. Here's a link to a YouTube video explaining 1Password: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=112&v=mcly2-b1W20

I keep all my passwords in a telephone book that I keep in the desk drawer.  Not an issue to find a password that I forgot.

Mine are all written down and entered individually.

I wouldn't want any device to remember them, if that's what's happening.

I have a small notebook (about 3" x 4") I got as a gift that I keep all my passwords written down in and keep it on my desk where my computer is.

Re: My Passwords Are Out Of Control! Any Help?

Been using a small notebook for passwords for about 10 years.  Even have them categorized under headings such as Banks, charge cards, utilities, insurances, employer, types of stores/businesses (such as clothing, pets, home goods, etc.)  Every time I have to set up a new password I log it in my notebook along with the sign in name in the appropriate category for that business.  I must have about 20 pages!  Lol!  But it's the only way to keep track and I would not trust having them on my phone or in the cloud.

Re: My Passwords Are Out Of Control! Any Help?

I keep a recipe box in my desk drawer and each site has a card where I write down the user name and password.  I found this to be easier to keep updated or swap out a new card if it gets full from changing to new passwords.  Taught my granddaughter  young to do the same Smiley Wink

I've told DH if anything happens to me to ask granddaughter how to access everything LOL!
