I did see there is an adapter called Hyper Drive USB Type C Hub that sells for $99 and gives you all the ports your used to. Does this mean I wouldn't have to buy all the accessories that you need for the MacBook Pro 2016?
All you need is an adapter with multiple ports to connect your devices. What do you want to connect?

O/P seven years? Be glad you had a laptop that lasted that long. Computers are not really made these days to last more then four years that was told to me by a tech. I brought my daughter a HP computer she loves it.

@glb613, well I'm not really sure, I would like to be able to charge the laptop by plugging it into an wall outlet. I'm the type of person who buys something because I may need it later!

Every computer is able to plug into a wall outlet. The new Macbooks only have Thunderbolt ports so, you need an adapter for the other devices you own.

@Jordan2 I couldn't believe it my 5 year old Toshiba laptop also bit the dust this morning! I have a power surge strip I plug it in and right after it came up it snapped and the power strip shut off also as well as the computer. My Alexa was plugged in the strip also. About an hour later we tried it again and the same thing. My husband is a retired electrician and said it sounded like the fan ceased up. I have been trying to decide on a new laptop the past two weeks. I don't use it much as I use my iPads but I use it for writing and photos and backing up my Apple products. I will check out HP online and the TSV tomorrow to see how that is. I don't mind buying from HSN or QVC as I go online and compare their computers and specs and price. I bought my Toshiba laptop from Wal-Mart and only had one problem over the years. I did a factory reset three years ago and it corrected it. It has been running at 90% heat with the fan and even after cleaning and elevating it ran hotter. I will probably have it fixed as I know someone that needs a laptop as they don't own one. Toshiba doesn't make many laptops anymore and I am not tying the money up in a MacBook Pro as I had one before. They are awesome but using my iPads more it isn't worth buying again now I am retired. I will post back if I purchase one. It is a good thing I back up my computer. I did it two weeks ago and most of photos are on DVD's and USB drives and they are the most important.

@MKR14, just wondering if you have considered getting a Chromebook? I have been looking at the Samsung Chromebook Pro which is about $550. If I were to get a Chromebook I would also possibly get the new iPad Pro. I figure the two would cost me what the MacBook Pro alone would cost. I actually went to Best Buy today and it was like I was invisible, not enough sales help and no one approached me. Upon leaving I said something to the guy who mans the entrance. I told him I much prefer ordering online as I can never get anyone to help me. I doubt he cared but it made me feel better.

Wow! my HP computer bit the dust too. My son decided to upload Windows 10 and that was the last the computer worked. It is about 2 years old. Not sure whether to take it to be repaired or not.
If it was a bit older the decision would be easier.

@Jordan2 I just checked this computer out but it is not in their stores:
HP-Silver-Iridium-Ci7-15-cc060wm-15-6-Laptop-Touchscreen-Windows-10-Home-Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-12GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive at Walmart. The price was just reduced from $779.00 in their recent ad down to $661.00 when you look the same one up on their site. I went the HP site and this beats their prices. I got over 5 years from my Toshiba laptop from Wal-Mart. I will put Square Trade on my new laptop. They have great service.
I will watch the TSV tomorrow here but I think this at Wal-Mary is what I will order. I have been watching this since their last ad came out. I probably will get this and although I loved the rose gold in the TSV the specs in this silver one is awesome.
Sorry drizzella about your computer. I wanted to buy a Windows 10 computer rather than upgrade and have a problem.
Remember when you set-up a new Windows 10 computer to just bring it up and let it run several hours to put all the updates on before adding anything other than what it asked to
do for set-up. I read online it will mess up unless the updates get on it first. Many people hated the laptops they bought but it was before some let the updates completely finish. I read some take quite a bit of time so just bring up and let it run all night if needed. Then if it messes up there is no excuse. Just a hint on what I read on an electronics site.

I will ask my son. Would not surprise me if he did not let it finish the updates.
Today is a special one day sale at Sam's Club today. There were several computers. In the price range of $400 -500.

I decided to purchase the TSV in the 15" Gold HP Laptop. It will do whatever I need and the 1 year accidental warranty, backlit keyboard and PC mover will be nice. It already has the new Creator Update installed on it. I did a Live Chat and they sent my question to the Rep and he answered it on air. The Intel i3 will be better than the version of my AMD is on what I have now. I almost bought the rose gold but I think I would get bored with it. I love that the gold has a black keyboard also. You can use the mouse and not touch the screen to use it. I have 30 days to check it out.
