Microsoft Security Essentials?

Just wondering if anyone used this program and if you do any problems running it and does it work good. My anti-virus expires Christmas I need to get something but right now I have to wait till after the holidays I thought about using Microsoft Security Essentials. Anyone recommend a good anti-virus program had McAfee but the program ran so so slow.
