I purchased the above card to give me more space in my cell phone.  The phone is a Samsung Galaxy ON5.  Yes I know it's an older phone but only use it when out.  Have a home phone I use most times.  Got the card at TMobile, they put it in my phone but the phone isn't picking it up.  Said to try Best Buy Geek Squad for help.  Can anyone tell me how to get it to communicate.  I'd like to try to do it myself.  The manual says to just put it in and go.  I've had the phone a few years and maybe should have put it in sooner.  Right now I can't take photos or open them if I do.  Have a lot of minutes on this phone so would like to use them up before upgrading.

@kismet    Ha! I'd love to know too.  Inserting those SD cards is like planting seeds.  I stick them where they're supposed to go and never see or hear from them again. I've put them in phones and two different tablets.  Nothing is ever transferred to them and I see no option for doing it.  There's no way to click on something and send it to the card.

My Samsung tablet constantly tells me the card is inserted incorrectly.  Well, there's only one way it will go and it's fully inserted.  I've taken it out and reinserted it a dozen times.

If anyone can enlighten us, I too would be appreciative.

Reboot your phone. Buy another SD card. The one you have might not be good. That happens.

  • Rebooting is always a good first option. Also, go to "Settings" then "Storage" and tap on that and see if it shows the card.

@kismet   Why not take the phone back to T-Mobile & have them fix it since they inserted the card?   confused.gif

Do I reboot by hitting the volume and on button?  I thought I cleared the cache but after hitting delete is shows I still have 56.KB on it.  My phone has 8 GB and says I used 7.83GB.  I checked it with my husband's phone and his has no problem with the same amount of usage including about 10 photos.  I don't see any indication of the new card on storage.  I've had photos on this for a few years and deleted all of them and still can't take or open photos.  I will take it back to TMobile since the card didn't fix the storage.  I got the phone there a few years ago.

Simply putting in a card isn't going to change your usage. You need to relocate the photos to the new SDHC card.  How to do that depends on your phone.  This is the same thing as having a full hard drive on a computer.  All devices need a certain amount of free space for processes to work properly.

I'd suggest you plug your phone into your computer and off load all of your photos and anything else you can't afford to lose and start over.  All devices can be reset to factory condition through the settings.  Once that is done, get into setting and change the photo storage to the SD card instead of the internal hard drive.  BTW, you should never have only one copy of anything you can't afford to lose.

What is the storage capacity of the card you bought? The information I was able to find shows that your phone can handle a 128 GB card. If your card has a larger capacity, it's not going to work.

The SD I got was 32.  I did visit the Geek Squad and they got the SD card in and it shows on my phone but I should of taken a few photos there because I did take some at home and can't open them.  They show on my phone but it says I don't have enough to open them and pull them up.  The guy said this will show up on the phone but I want to be able to open them.  Will make an appointment to go back and see the person that put the SD card in.  It only took him a few minutes.  Now that a lot of returns give you the barcode or whatever it's called I want the photos to open.  My husband has the same phone and has about 14 photos on it and he use to get the cannot open message but cleared it somehow.  Not here to ask now.
