McAffee needed on computer/worth it?

I'm real lame at this stuff, and today noticed a LOT of gobbledegoop coming up when I typed. McAfee pop ups appear all the time. I ask for info and get stuff I don't understand. is it worth getting $ wise, and is it just charged to me? with this afternoon's typing being so extremely off,,,and now it's fine, I wonder if I'm being s u c k e red in??? Thanks for any help, and do remember there's a blockhead sitting here!!!!
