I still haven't downloaded OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.  Can I update to MacOS Sierra without downloading this, or do I need to download the 10.11.6 El Capitan first?  I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I tried Googling it and couldn't find the answer.

I think I can probably just download Sierra but wanted to make sure.

If you couldn't, you wouldn't have the option.

Thank you @GATORGIRL.  I had read the system requirements, and my computer is in that timetable.  I just wasn't sure if it needed to be up to date with all the upgrades for El Capitan first.  I doubt it, but wasn't sure.

You also need to make sure all of your 3rd party software is ready for Sierra.  You can check on this website-->https://roaringapps.com/apps?platform=osx

I haven't upgraded either.  I am waiting for the 2nd or 3rd version.  I am still on Yosemite on my iMac & Snow Leopard on my MBP.  I have no intention of upgrading my MBP.
