I have a 2015 Macbook which runs on Catalina.  Just today I am not able to access my online banking or the bank's website. ( 3 days ago it was fine) I called and was told that the browser may be outdated to accomdate the update by the bank.  Was thinking of buying a new computer anyway but is there a way around this?  I am not tech savvy...

Go to Support on the Apple website & look for this section on updating software.  It will tell you which devices can be updated with which operating systems.

Have you tried accessing your bank using a different browser? At home I use Edge for accessing all the websites I want, but sometimes I have to switch to Chrome to access other sites....

My bank does a lot of overnight UPDATES...and they are offline during that time.

However, they don't put a notification on their website.    I try later in the day, and it's back to normal.

I have a MacBook and have always downloaded updates when they show up. I set up my laptop to automatically run updates if I don't do it first.

I currently have MacOS Big Sur 11.7.10 running on my MacBook.

Thoughts.

Click on your Apple icon at the top left of your screen. Click on About This Mac. Click on Software Update and see if it tells you anything.

Click on Apple icon at the top left of your screen. Click on the Safari app store and see if it tells you aboiut any updates.

Go to Apple.com and either set up a call to help you or see what updates you should process.

I had a similar issue with my old MacBook. It turned out that the browser was outdated, which messed up my access to some sites. I’d recommend trying to update your current browser or switching to another one like Firefox or Chrome.
