@dooBdoo  I have not received notice either.   Went to Apple's download website & noticed Sonona is not even listed.

Went to their compatibility Article (the one you posted) & noticed my iMac model was missing.  I thought it was a typo so I went over to MacRumors & saw their list......

macOS Sonoma Compatibility

macOS Sonoma drops support for the following Macs:

  • 2017 MacBook Pro
  • 2017 iMac
  • 2017 MacBook (12-Inch)

There was my missing iMac. Smiley Surprised faint.gif  Looks like I'll be staying w/Ventura 13.6 till my iMac falls apart or the OS becomes unusable. whichever comes first.

I'm posting this on my 2008 MBP using Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.8) which is still going strong on it's 2nd battery which recently went down to 95% full charge!

=====================================

On another note:  Apple no longer makes 27-inch iMacs.  When the time comes, I will be switching to a 27-inch studio display & a Mac Mini.  Then I will come back here & pick your brain about the Mac Mini.

No more iMac 27 inch computers?  Tell me it's not true!  I went to the site and you're right.  I may be doing the same thing when my computer dies.  Get a mini and attach it to a 27 inch monitor.  I realize desktop computers are no longer popular but, there are people like me who love the bigger screen.

@gadgetgal613 - I loved my 27" iMac.  It got really old though so I recycled it and bout and iPad Air several months ago. I love it, but it is sooooooo much smaller.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I have the update out there on my MacBook Air to download. The latest update to my iPhone and iPad didn't go so smoothly so I think I'll wait till tomorrow to update. Too much stress LOL.

Ooooh!  I'm sorry you can't update, @Mz iMac.  With Apple, we are lucky that we go so many years with older devices still being supported...  that's one of the reasons I've been a customer since the 1980s.  So, when we run into this it's a surprise.

@Mz iMac and @gadgetgal613,

Apple's decisions about the 27-inch iMacs pretty much were what led me to buying the 2023 Mac Mini M2.

I was still using my old iMac (24-inch) I bought in 2012, and I still love using it as a back up.

But it aged out of security updates so I couldn't safely use it online for most activities -- security has always been a priority, but even more so now with so many nefarious hackers and criminals out there.

I decided with my vision problems I really should go up to a larger screen, planning to get a 27-inch.

I waited until our tax-free weekend was approaching and I looked at the Apple website and also spoke with a tech there.

They confirmed it.

No 27-inch available or expected.

I hadn't even considered the Mac mini until talking with the Apple rep, but it began to sound more and more like a great option.

I ended up actually buying mine from B&H Video (my favorite source for tech, electronics, and all things associated) because the first morning of the tax-free weekend they dropped the cost to $100 lower than Apple's price, and of course had free shipping.

It arrived practically overnight and it works like a charm.

For anyone considering it, as time goes by there will be better videos and articles with reviews.  I'm a very satisfied customer.😊
