I have an LGL 22C tracfone. Every time I check my remaining balance I find that about 50 mb of data are gone. - what is odd about this is that I keep the mobile data turned  off all the time. On a rare occasion I will use my phone to google something because I instead use my tablet all the time. For this reason i only extremely rarely turn the mobile data on and then it goes right back off when I'm done, and I certainly don't use 50 mb. It's only on for about a min. AND I repeat this is a rare occurance. Anyway, I sent a text to tracfone and they said this is impossible - that data can't be used if it is turned off. So I sent a return text to say it IS turned off and the data is disappearing and what is the deal with that? They again said the same answer. Anyone have any ideas what I should do now.

Well, someone on that forum answered me that my apps are using the data - things like chrome -e mail - weather bug -google - g mail etc etc etc even though it is turned off. I thought those only worked off wifi unless I turn the mobile data on but I must be wrong about that. Interesting.

Most free apps eat data from 2 or more sourses at once, and then the ads that come on that app eat up more data. I know I was shocked the first time I wasn't on someone elses wifi and using my own data.     My husband was wondering what the heck I was doing.   I bought an app that showed me exactly what what was using it.

Now I have an unlimited plan and all is good.

That seems strange about the apps.  I have an Iphone 5 and when I'm on wifi, I don't see the data usage going up - I do data checks frequently to monitor and it only goes up when I'm out and about - without wifi.

I do know that GPS uses a LOT of data, but other than that, I'm not getting this explanation.

I think it was called Dataman, it was a real eye opener for sure.  Mostly I log into everyone's wifi but I was cleaning out my parents home to sell and I spent 3 months there without wifi.   After the first month shock, I rarely checked anything.

It is not a significant amount of loss as I have 1900+ MB of data available but it was bothering me that I was losing it even though I had mobile data turned off. It is good to understand where it is going. I went into my settings to turn of the GPS thinking that would make a significant difference but found that it can't be turned off on this phone. How odd is that? Oh well. thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
