Laser Printers - Need Help in Picking One

I am in the need for a printer and I don't want an ink jet. I've had ink jets and they never seem to last long and the cartridges run out so often.

I have looked on line and seen some laser Canons and a lot of HP's. I want one that faxes, copies and scans too. I don't want to pay much more than $120 tops. I don't need top of the line, but want a good quality one.

I don't quite know the stats to look for in helping me decide.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would go to Staples online, and look for an HP laser printer. I have a HP one function printer still running after 11 year. HP keeps drivers for their printers a long time.

I have two printers, a wireless inkjet network printer, and this laser printer. I use one for the small jobs, another for larger projects. I check the service manual to know how many supplies I need. You are buying a business product. Make sure it works with Windows 8.

Re: Laser Printers - Need Help in Picking One

I have a Brother. It's great. My mom (just passed at 88) clued me in to this. Can you believe it? My mom was tech-savvy in her 80's. She was even on LinkedIn. She said "if I just mostly do black and white, a laser makes a lot more sense than paying for those ink cartridges." She was right. I've just changed the toner cartridge once in a few years since I've owned the Brother.

I'd suggest the Brother HL-L2340DW with wireless, as it's easiest to set up so the entire house can use it. But if price is a consideration, you can go down to as low as around $55 with the non-wireless version. That is the one I have but I regret it not being wireless now. However, it's still going strong. It's half the price of the typical color inkjets and I get far more pages out of it. A lot cheaper to use and very professional for documents, I might add.

Re: Laser Printers - Need Help in Picking One

Thanks for the information everyone. Brother is another brand I didn't know a lot about.

I have Windows 7, so hopefully lasers will work well with it.

Thank you for the input!!
