Laptop vs Notebook

I am in the market for a new computer. I bascially only use it to surf the net, order on-line, Facebook, send e-mails, etc. I am "tech dumb" so to speak.....so for use with what I mentioned, what would be appropriate.....laptop or notebook? I don't even know what the difference between those two are! LOL
