I'm thinking of getting a new computer mine is slowing down it's a HP desktop husband has updated it still running slow I like a laptop but I read they get hot and the battery does not last if you have a laptop do you like yours and is it fast?

Like to keep the price under $900 I use my computer for scrapbooking and pictures of my dogs and email family read the news headlines I need something that will handle 10,000 pictures or more can anyone help. I have no idea what to buy I know nothing about laptops and what is a good fast processor.
