Has anyone, after transferring your ph# and mins., transferred another ph# TO an 800 or 840? I'd like to transfer my husband's ph# to one of my old ones and wondered if we could just do the same thing with these two I did going to the 39c. What I'm really hoping is the phone keeps the minute tripling b/c his only doubles. I suspect we may need to purchase a SIM from Tracphone. The old phone shows "unregistered SIM".

QR reader
The 39C has a fixed focus camera which isn't good for most QR readers but supposedly some do work. Anyone find a good app that works with ff?

I downloaded the app to tell me how many min I have left - it comes up on the homepage of my phone now , which i appreciate. recently, I lost 500 m of data time and found it was because i had an app open and someone accessed it trying to get into my phone to get info. Tracfone restored the time and I was told it is a good idea after using any app to be certain it is closed to turn the phone off and back on. That disconnects the app. When you go to turn the phone off there is a off & back on option.I also keep the mobile data turned off if I am away from wifi so it doesn't use any data time that way. despite all that my phone still slowly leaks data - I have not used any data today - I am home and on the computer so I have not used the data on the phone - plus the wifi is on here but I still lost .2m of data since yesterday. I don't really understand that but so be it.I can't seem to stop it from happening.Obviously the wifi is on as I am here posting from my computer, so no data time should be being used at all. It is an inexpensive smart phone so I guess you get what you pay for. I do wish they would put the user manual online - i have not been able to find it as yet and I feel it would be very helpful. I do like the phone in general. Good sound quality and great pictures.

Since my family is all over the world right now I post a lot of pictures on Facebook. I downloaded the instagram app to my phone and my computer. It is much simpler to post to FB or to email a photo from instagram than from photobucket. It also automatically uses bluetooth to send all my pictures to my computer as soon as they get within range of each other.
I can also put the sim card from my camera into my computer and download pictures from the card into instagram and bluetooth any I want to carry with me to the phone.

I'm glad to hear the app is working for you. I just checked and still have all my data, but my phone has only been activated less than 24h. But that's good to mention to turn off data, it's one of the first things I did. I also turned off the thing that locates me because I didn't like the idea of that.
I do wonder if having data turned off is overridden if you try to do something out of WiFi range. Or do you get an error? I need to try it. I wonder if the app that tells you your minutes is responsible for using your data. I thought I read that it has to go online to get the info. I don't know for sure at all. There's some kind of data app already on my phone that seems to show usage, have you checked there? Mine shows nothing.
Did you check out the manual I linked to in my OP? I didn't come out as a link but I think it's the manual you want. You just gave me an idea to put the manual on the phone.

Happy Housewife, I just want to make sure you know that you never have to turn data on to use wi-fi. I turned my data on when I first got the phone just to make sure it worked, but have never turned it on again, and it has not used any data since that first day. All you have to do is turn on the wi-fi, and you will connect to your home wi-fi, a business's wi-fi, etc. The ONLY time you would want to turn on data is if you were somewhere where there was no wi-fi at all or if you want to send or receive a text message with a photo.
Pickleslarue, the apps I have won't work unless the data or wi-fi are on. I get a message on the phone saying something to that effect.

if you want to use the e mail or an app and are not in wifi area you must turn on the mobile data screen or get an error.

in my experience - just returning to the home page does not turn off an app. I was using google maps for directions and then went back to the home page and the gps stayed open and that was how I lost those 500m.When i called tracfone service they said to be certain you close all apps you have to turn it off and then on.
Does anypone know how to turn off the GPS function on this phone? I wanted to buy the best I could achieve was to push do not accept - however, at the top of my screen I still have the gsp signal indicating it is broadcasting. I feel that is where my phone is "leaking" data time.

To turn off your location access, touch the menu button at the bottom of the phone...second button from the right. Scroll down until you see "location access". Click on that, and then turn "access to my location" off. That will turn off the GPS.

I'm glad apps can't turn on data!
Hopefully Tgbtg and Happyhousewife have solved her data loss issue.
Can we update the Android version or are we stuck with 4.1?
