I did read on a Tech Blog that Tracfone will soon get an even better, newer Android. I wish I knew when "soon" is.
Yes, as you know, there will always be a new one
It was getting time for my annual $100 card so I really needed to go for it. On the plus side with this phone is it doesn't seem to have bugs, or they've been worked out, like you can encounter with a new offering AND there is a lot of info online to help those of us new to Android. You won't believe the difference once you graduate from the pretend smart phones.

Blue, I'm not much of a texter (yet?) and with what I ported over I can't imagine needing a card but can see why someone else would like a separate card. I imagine I may need to add data at some point but I'm transferring A LOT to begin with. I didn't know about the reply all feature, I guess I didn't know you could text more than one person with a single text. And the keys not lighting up seemed strange to me too!
So what I have to add is wowy....the voice to text feature. Memos, contacts, texts....it's very cool. I have to look into it more but you can set a gesture to unlock the phone and also or only a PIN. I need to figure out better how to end apps, or if just going back to home is always enough. Also I want to be able to access apps settings more efficiently.
Thanks my fellow (mostly newbie) Android users. I really think a few of us sharing can help each other get maximum use of our phones.
To close apps, I just go back to the "opening screen" of the app, and then hit home. Is there a better way, anyone?

Yes, the two new androids that are supposed to come out at some point are the Optimus Fuel (4.4 Kitkat OS but only a 3.5 inch screen), and the Samsung Galaxy Ace (4.3 Jelly Bean OS, 4 in. screen, front and back cameras). I was going to have to refill my Straight Talk phone last Saturday and figured the $33 I would have spent then would pay for a third of the Tracfone/minutes, so why not? In three months, it will have paid for itself.
Two people in other Tracfone threads pointed out a couple of things that pushed me over the edge concerning getting this one or waiting for one of the other two to appear...1) If this phone will do what I want it to do, then no need to wait, and 2) since this phone has been out awhile and has generally good reviews (read the reviews on Amazon and HSN), it would be a good one to get.

That Galaxy with the bigger screen is what I am holding out for. I have old eyes, LOL. I have an excess of service days from rollover and I don't use a lot of minutes, so I just got a small card (tripled) to tide me over.

My husband has the LG840G and is holding out for the Galaxy Ace, as well. Great idea to just buy small cards until it comes out. I had to set the font size on the LGL39C to large. lol

I just ordered this phone from HSN. It shipped out REALLY fast and I should get it tomorrow or Tuesday. I compared the reviews for both this phone and the Samsung and this one was better according to everything I read. Even the techno types love this one more than the Samsung. I needed minutes anyhow, so basically got the phone for free. Well, I don't need any minutes, but my year's worth was about to expire. I will now have well over 3,000 once I get the 1200 and roll over the ones I've got left..

Did you get it? I hope you'll like it. I transferred my ph# and minutes yesterday because I had wanted to carry it around a while to check the signal. I did it online. The directions were easy to follow. It took maybe 10 mins to go through all the steps and then in 15 mins the new phone became activated.
One thing to know is you won't have the crawler that tells you your mins. and days. There's an app or go to tracfone.com and put in your ph#. It tells you right there and also sends a free text. I bookmarked the page in the phone but you can of course do it from any browser. Haven't tried the app yet.
I transferred my contacts with bluetooth. I found some instructions online as I never toothed before. I don't think I would have figured it out, at least not without trial and error.

I have A LOT too
The way the minutes transfer and then also the same # of texts and MB of data made this too good to pass up. Plus the phone has turned out to be really nice.
