The 7"" HDX was not upgraded. The 8.9"" was upgraded. I'm guessing it will not be the new model for the TSV.

I have an old kindle fire. It's a pain to try to figure out how to print. I don't know if the new one is different. Other then that is does what I need it to do. I got it as,a gift but if it broke and had to get a new one it would be a iPad because of its ease of use and because of the music I have on my iTunes.

I can tell what it doesn't do. It doesn't sync seamlessly across Apple's ecosystem. That is the major drawback for people that like their devices and computer to seamlessly work together. It's also one of the reasons I never want to go back to windows ( that and windows instability and virus problems). I take photos on my iphone, they automatically show up on my ipad and my desktop. I don't have to convert aac files to mp3 to because android doesn't like aac. There are apps that I'm invested in that aren't available on android.

Back when I got my first ipod, I was still using windows and it was a major pain to convert all my music from windows media player default file type .wmv to mp3 so it would work with ipod. The different ecosystems just don't easily play well together. I actually considered recently switching to the Fire phone until I realized I'd be on androids ecosystem and be back to having to try and get all my devices to play nice together through coversion and 3rd party apps instead of native ones. It's just not worth the hassle.

I don't have any Apple products, so that isn't an issue for me. I agree if I had an IPhone, I'd want an Ipad. That's a no-brainer.

I totally love my Samsung Note 3 phone though. The pictures I take on my Samsung phone go straight to my Kindle also.

The TSV is a good deal. It is also the newest version for the 7"" Kindle HDX.

I'm torn between this and the new Kindle Voyage being released next month (but already on backorder until late December). I use my old Kindle for reading and I also have an I-pad. Has anyone used the Fire for reading books since that will be my primary use of it? Thank you

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kindle Fire HDX but I have the 8.9 screen. LOVE the wee bit bigger screen. Which is why I didn't like the iPad mini. My Kindle does everything and more than I could ask for!
