Kindle Question

My husband, who is a smart guy, is about to pull out the last hairs on an already sparse head. He is unable to access the in-house WiFi and has been told by our ISP that he needs to buy a new router (B or G). Our current router is a D link . It seems like there must be a LOT of people who have older routers and are geting Kindles this month...are we missing something?
