Kindle Fire HDX TSV Question

I've been wanting a tablet for ages and ordered the Kindle Fire HDX TSV last Sunday. Now I am feeling completely inept.

I got it charged and registered, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting around and can't seem to find anything to do. Is this because I DIDN'T enter a 1-click payment method? I don't plan to use any purchased apps, at least not at the beginning, but do I have to enter a credit/debit card in order to access anything (i.e., "the free stuff")?

Any help is appreciated. I'm not too happy at the moment. What am I doing wrong? {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

What are you trying to do? If you want to get online, you need to open the browser.

i don't know how different the Kindle Fire HDX is from other Andoids, but you shouldn't have to delete apps on another device before adding to this one. I have three tablets, all with identical apps installed. Even some magazine subscriptions allow multiples up to a certain limit. Wasn't one of the big selling points of K-HDX that lifetime online 24/7 Tech Support that either would answer questions or with your permission, take control of your device and fix the problem? Is that not working as advertised or meeting your needs/expectations?

Re: Kindle Fire HDX TSV Question

Amazon tablets, and I am on my 4th, are largely geared towards the purchase of their content. If you want to get free apps, click on apps, then click store. You can get the free app of the day as well as search their huge library of apps. Same with books...click books, click store, and you can download free samples of books. If you like web, you can use the browser to do all the usual internet things. All along the top of your screen (I would use landmark position) are those things, along with shop which takes you to the Amazon store. A tablet without apps and books doesn't do much other than store photos and music purchases. Didn't the QVC TSV have the free mentor button? You can click that and get a live person to help you. I'm wondering why you got a tablet. At would he'll us give you advice. Kindle is a lot different than iPad, which is set up more like a PC...it takes some getting used to. I have both. I have the larger iPad 2 and the smaller Kindle HD, since you have the HDX you have the online assistant. Stick with it. I haven't touched my computer since I got my tablets. The only thing you might need is a printer which is cloud ready. There are ways around it but they are tricky and don't always work. I got an Epson Workforce from Amazon which is air and cloud ready, so it prints easily from both my tablets. Good luck!

Re: Kindle Fire HDX TSV Question

Well some apps are cross platform and you only have to buy them once, like MusicNotes player which is free, a sheet music program, and all Kindle apps will work on other droids and kindles. Likewise you can put your iTunes music purchases onto your kindle and your kindle books on your iPad all for free but some apps have to be purchased separately for each platform.

Yes, Amazon needs to have your credit or debit information.

You need to know if this Kindle tablet is the right fit for you. So use it. You do not want to decide you not happy, after the 30 days. You need to use your Amazon prime account for 30 days free.

Re: Kindle Fire HDX TSV Question

Thanks for your replies. I'm on the Kindle now. Not sure about it. Hopefully, I will get more comfortable.

Is the iPad easier?
