I bought my daughter the Kindle Fire HD and when she is at home she can get internet access as she just connects to our wireless. How can we get it to connect when we are out on the road? She was going to use her iphone as a hotspot but my husband said that is going to drive our phone bill really high because it will use up a lot of the data plan. Can I pay for a month to month plan for the Kindle? Can I add to my regular Verizon plan? I really didn't think it would be an issue.........thanks for any help. We are going to Florida and she wants to be able to access the internet on the trip.

I don't know that there is a monthly data plan for the Kindle, but I know for sure that you cannot add it to your Verizon plan. The only tablets that can be added to your Verizon plan are tablets purchased from Verizon. I know this because I wanted to add my iPad to my family Verizon plan and was told that unless I bought it from Verizon I could not add it to my plan. Each company "locks" their tablets so they can't be used on other systems. I bought my iPad from Q and it is an ATT iPad so I can only add it to an ATT account. I would check into how much additional data for the trip would run you. I also know you can purchase some kind of wireless router with a monthly charge or maybe a prepaid that you use up and then refill that you can travel with in the car. I went on a bus trip with one of my son's teams and that is what they did. The unit was purchased at Best Buy. Perhaps you can search it out. Good luck!

There is no way to do this, unless you use your own phone as a hotspot. But, you can connect to many wifi networks at restaurants and other public places.

Not a Kindle, but my boyfriend wanted 4G, he had to buy a wireless router There was a rebate so it was free, but the plan is about $50 per month. He went to a verizon store with his.

I haven't done it, but I'm thinking you can buy a month at a time from ATT for the Kindle QVC sold. I'd call Amazon's Kindle help line or the QVC tech number they gave us when we bought.
Kindle has been faster for me than that tech line - just the opposite of what was true some years back on a different QVC-purchased electronic item. Then their tech service was better than the manufacturer's was.
