Kindle Fire HD And Amazon Prime

I got this tablet for my mother back in January or February when it was a good price. They sign you up for a free month of Amazon Prime. I get an email today telling about the increase to $99 but they renewed mine for the old price of $79. I didn't know they were automatically renewing it, I didn't okay it! I cancelled it and will get a refund on my bill. Why do companies do this, this was free for a month, why don't they notify me if I want to continue? Honestly my mother wasn't even taking advantage of the free month of Amazon Prime.

Re: Kindle Fire HD And Amazon Prime

I bought a Kindle in October and it didn't happen because it's not a tablet. I am having another problem with them. I want to join amazon prime right now before the price hike, but they'll only let me sign up for the free month. Do you have a phone number for them? Thanks.

The email didn't contain a phone number. If you go to the website I think you can click on something that allows you to manage your Prime membership account.

Re: Kindle Fire HD And Amazon Prime

As I remember what I clicked on for Prime, I did know it would be renewed automatically for a full year. That's pretty standard for any month-long offers, but I'm going to check to see if I kept that contract. Sometimes I do.

And I know I just marked my calendar for the month before my current contract expires, so I can opt out for next year if I decide I want to. I have already come close to paying for this year's Prime, but just don't know I'd be able to do that year after year.

Re: Kindle Fire HD And Amazon Prime

I bought my Kindle HD when it was an HSN special before Christmas. My free month of prime was up in January and I did get an e-mail from Amazon advising that my free period was expiring soon and would auto-renew unless I changed it. It contained instructions on exactly what to do if I didn't want to subscribe to prime. Wonder if your notification ended up in your spam folder. Glad they made it right for you.

Re: Kindle Fire HD And Amazon Prime

I just bought the Kindle Fire HDX when it was a TSV and just received it, but I've discovered a couple of small issues. The first one is in regards to Amazon Prime: we are members already, but I was attempting to purchase a book and it would only let me do that if I activated the 1-Click setting on my Amazon Prime account....it's not an issue now, but it sounds as if you don't have Amazon Prime, you can't order e-books?????

The second issue is that my son told me Amazon Prime is getting hit with a huge class-action law-suit because they told venders to raise their prices to cover the free shipping. My guess is that this will not put Amazon out of business, but is Prime going to cost more?

You can order books without being a Prime member. I've done it on my iPad. Prime membership is going up $20.
