I'm hoping someone can advise me. I have Kaspersky Anti Virus software on my computer. I noticed about a month ago I got this Kaspersky Secure Connection icon on my computer. I believe this has slowed down my computer (it's old so now it's even slower) and many times I get a screen telling me there is no internet connection when there is. Eventually the website does come up. My question is what is this and do I really need it? Can I uninstall it without uninstalling my virus software? I'm not tech savvy so I would appreciate any help.

I also have it. It came free with the computer for 6 mos. It's a guarantee that your transaction is protected. If I had to pay for it, I probably would not get it (I guess it would depend upon the cost) so say it was $20 extra a mo. then Kaspersky could keep it. ![]()

Hi Jordan,so glad you posted that question.Yesterday I went crazy.I had to pay my elderly mom's housekeeper back in Italy. My laptop kept saying I had no wi-fi connection, but other laptops and tablets were fine.
I only know the basics of using computers and one daughter was busy and the other was tired. So I just used another laptop. Then today my husbad fixed my computer, but it didn't last more than 10 minutes.
Then the Kapersky window popped up requesting my permission for updates. It said that if I didn't do that I wouldn't have wi-fi.
After the update everything worked perfectly.I feel I was kind of forced to allow the update.
Hope this will help you solve your problem.

@Spurt, thank you for telling me how to do this, but I'm wondering if I should do it?

I don't know what to tell you, its a decision you have to make. There may be another alternative, if Kapersky automatically put a shortcut for Kapersky SecureConnection, put your mouse on the ICON and do a right click, then click OPEN, you will come to a menu. There is a button, see if you can move it to the left to turn it off and see whether you can still get wifi. If you can't get wifi put the button back the way it was. Or call Kaspersky Support to see what they say if you are unsure what to do. Tell them you do not plan to subscribe after trial is over because it slows your computer down too much. See what they say.
Here's an article.....#2 probably doesnt apply if you have a subscription...already

When you install Kaspersky 2017 along with it, the newly added Secure Connection will also be installed on your computer. Kaspersky Secure Connection is available with limited mode to users, and it offers only 200 MB of free traffic per day, when that limit exceeds a notification will be shown to wait for few more hours for you to avail the service.
If you want to use KSC without limitations then you need to purchase a license for that by visiting Kaspersky Online Store, if you think this much of hassle you can remove Secure Connection, here is how that can be done.
Three reasons to remove Kaspersky Secure Connection

I have had Kaspersky Internet Security or its equivalent by them for several years and am happy with the general protection. However, I haven't had good experiences with their add-ons like Safe Money, and AFAIC, Secure Connection falls into the same category, so I don't even want to try it. It's not installed, even though Kaspersky nags me quietly about it. I've also disabled Safe Money.
I have Kaspersky running all the time, and occasionally do a complete scan, and haven't yet turned up any bugs. It usually informs me on the fly of attempts on my ports, which it rebuffs. So based just on my experience, I'd say you'd be okay if you turned it off.

My BFF is in cyber security and he uses Kaspersky secure connection on own devices. But do what you want. What it does is protect the privacy of your IP address.
