DH recently purchased an Iphone and I'm just wondering (since I know very little about them), are they safe and secure?  I mean, once you put your health and financial info in it, how safe are these things?  Do you need to install some type of extra protection and if so, what?  I am just leary of getting important info hacked or identity theft, etc.  Thanks!

Re: Iphones - are they secure?

 @AngelPuppy1  I have an iPhone.I never store my financial or health information on it. I never bank online. That's my preference,I know that many do but I won't.

I don't store that type of information on my phone, however, I did put Webroot on my phone the same as I have on my computer for internet safety.

@AngelPuppy1

Please call Apple tech support and ask them about the security of your phone.

Would they recommend a program to scan for malware?

They are the experts in this matter.

One of the most important things, in my opinion, would be using a secure WiFi network and NOT using any public WiFi. Or just use their phone data plan. Apple has more control over who the app developers that are allowed than android phones. It should also go without saying, make sure that there's a passcode, fingerprint option, or Face ID being used to open the phone each time. You can get an iPhone manual through the iBooks app.

Does your phone have a secure folder? My Android phone has one. If I wanted to store something, this would be the place.

Many companies are using two-step verification method to access an account. My cable company and the SSA uses this technology.

Please find out what additional security features are available.

You may want to consider try using your smartphone for more tasks.

 @Nuttmeg  I appreciate your suggestions but I have no interest in expanding my use of my IPhone.I just don't feel comfortable doing it.

Re: Iphones - are they secure?

Thank you for your replies!  I appreciate all your posts.  I thought that the Iphones were supposed to be more secure and that people were using them more for financial and health reasons?  I don't know much about this though.  Thank you!
