My step daughter has only a hot spot on her phone for using the internet. She is in an apartment with dish network for tv but that internet service is to expensive for her to purchase.
Can anyone tell me if there are other options? From what I understand there was landline telephone service in the apartment a few years ago. Since there was a landline, can she get internet service via a telephone company with out having a working landline telephone?
I am not teribly savy in this area and would appreciate any advice, thanks!

There are always options. I would suggest checking multiple vendors and gathering multiple quotes. Personally, I really like AT&T. I use them for everything, Wifi, tv, phones, etc.

Contact the local telephone company.

Check it out with your local phone company........sometimes they "throw in" the phone service for a few bucks extra. (I personally would never be without a landline......I'm OLD and have phones in every room......would be a cold day in "H" before I would wear one of those medallion things for an "emergency").
By the way, internet service isn't much cheaper with the phone company than any place else.

Thanks for the responses, I also thought the phone company was her best bet....I will tell her to give the phone compay a call. She is on a real tight budget, she needs to find the best deal available.

@Desertdi .. my Dear Mom also had a phone in every room. BUT thankfully she also had one of those "medallion things" for an emergency.... because there were times that she fell and was not able to reach any phone!!! If not for one of those "medallion things" she might have been on the floor for hours. I did personally go to check on her at least once a day ... but it is a good thing I was notified when she had fallen.
