Re: IPad junk mail

[ Edited ]

                @SouthernBee,  It appears you have an app called "My Accurate Forecast" which added itself as a profile on your device.

               Here's one description:  "'My Accurate Forecast' is a suspicious weather app that secretly creates a new email profile that spams your device with unwanted ads and might even incorporate malicious phishing emails."

              Try this official support guide from Apple.com's website to help you remove the app and associated junk:

"How to delete an app that has a configuration profile on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch"

"Apple has removed some apps from the App Store that install root certificates that could allow monitoring of data.   If you have one of these apps installed on your device, delete both the app and its associated configuration profile to make sure that your data remains protected."

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205347

@dooBdoo :❤️❤️❤️😀😀🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹- Thank you and sending you many blessings and hugs!!!!! There was no app to delete. I had to do it under the configuration profile. That was scary. I still have the All Inboxes setting or folder or whatever it is. The Qvc notification is giving multiple notifications this morning. Well my day has started wacky and counting my Blessings.                That's great that it was helpful, and you're welcome, @SouthernBee -- but I wouldn't have made the suggestion without @geezerette's fine detective work.🌻

               It's worrisome that you still see the "All Inboxes" if you only have one email account on your iPad.

               Why don't you check again in "Settings," under "Passwords & Accounts."

               If you see only one email account, and the "All Inboxes" still displays in the Mail app, that signals there's still some bad data, or inappropriate setting, or some other kind of corruption.

               I'd suggest closing all apps in background, clear all Safari history and website data (including the Advanced-->Website Data), then a hard shutdown of the device and reboot.

               Then reopen the Mail app and see if it fixed the problem.   If not, you might need to delete your email account from the iPad and then reinstall it.

               The "All Inboxes" heading needs to go away if you have only one email account installed.

               Fingers crossed this will clear things up.   I hope you have a lovely day, @SouthernBee.❤️

@dooBdoo

If you have an Apple device, don’t you by default also have an Apple email account?  Don’t you automatically get an ICloud email address?  I did.  and if @SouthernBee also has Yahoo as her email, that is more than one.  Hence the “All Inbox” option.

On the “home” “Mailbox” screen, there should be a list of options on the left in descending order: All Inboxes, then ICloud, Yahoo, Gmail (as examples).  Once you tap on, say, Yahoo, it should then continue to show Yahoo email when you come back to the mail app.  If it continues to default to the All Mailboxes option, then something else is indeed wrong.  I know that sometimes I tap something and can’t remember how to get back to what I usually view!

That is indeed strange that a rogue email/app got installed, though!  That is definitely beyond my pay grade to analyze!🧐

Good luck getting this solved, @SouthernBee !  I know that @dooBdoo will do her best to help. ❤️

@geezerette : 🌹🌹🌹🌹😄😄😄❤️❤️❤️: Thank you for your help. Followed the information you mentioned for dooBdoo. I noticed that the All Inbox was still listed plus the folder for My accurate forecast. After I completed your suggestions both were deleted. Thanks again, Southern Bee

               @geezerette,  Good morning!   Not everyone has an iCloud email address.   I don't have an iCloud email address, for example, even though I do have an iCloud account used for other things.

               I agree, if you created an iCloud email address it would be displayed in the "Settings" list under "Accounts" as another email account address and it would end in @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com (note this is not the same as the simple iCloud entry under "Accounts").

               And then, when you go over to the Mail app you'd see it as a choice and there would be an "All Inboxes" option.   But, if we don't have an actual iCloud email address, the "All Inboxes" option shouldn't be an option in the Mail app -- at least that's the way I understand it, and the way it works on my iPhone and iPads.

               Hope that make sense.   I got up at 2 a.m. with the start of a migraine (and then the power went out in the area for a couple of hours), so my brain feels a wee bit foggy.

@dooBdoo

And this is why I always read your comments to people with problems—I always learn something new!  I didn’t know that.  Well, I probably did take notice when I originally signed up with Apple, but later forgot—like I do most things! 🤪

Sorry to hear you’re suffering with a migraine.🤕  I often get them too.  And the ones that start in the middle of the night seem to be the worst.  And they last for days.  Hope that’s not the case for you today.

Take care. ❤️

@SouthernBee

Thank you for your kind comments, but I really didn’t do anything.  You were  the one that found the problem and posted the screeenshot of the rogue app, and then @dooBdoo was able to tell you how to get rid of it.

I hope you don’t have any other problems from this.  Have a great day! 🙂
