IPAD or notebook for grad school?

Hi! I am looking for some serious advice. I recently enrolled in graduate school and am quickly learning that my desktop may not be the most practical thing for my life....I need something portable.

Things I need in the device:

durability- meaning that this will more than likely be coming with me to the beach/boat....it needs to handle salt air....weird I know but true.

Internet

wireless capability to connect to my wireless printer

microsoft word/excel/ powerpoint

Wish list:

ability to also use as a touchscreen

....realistically....I want an IPAD....is this possible in terms of the things that I will need to use it for? I definitely need word/excel/powerpoint.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!
