And the paragraph breaks are back. For now anyway.

I suspect it was a simple error made when they updated the banned words list or something similar. Someone likely inadvertently inserted a paragraph break in the list and now the software won't let you use them. It could be something else, but that makes the most sense to me.

I doubt if they're working on it. At least not yet. If it's something as simple as I think it is, fixing it would take minutes, at most. Just find where the paragraph break is now banned and unban it. Ta-da! Problem solved!
.
How could they mistakenly add a paragraph break as a banned word or entry? Just hit "Enter" at the wrong time and then accept it and the paragraph break created by hitting enter could end up banned.
.
Could it have been done intentionally? Possibly. Every byte of data costs the company some money. Granted, for a paragraph break the cost would be on the scale of a millionth of a dollar per paragraph break, but when multiplied by the number of paragraph breaks on a big forum, it could count up to a reasonable sum. A real penny-pincher could order the removal of paragraph breaks to save those few dollars. Which we then offset by using substitutes for paragraph breaks that may consume still more data costing them even more.
.
My suspicion is this was just a stupid mistake and they'll eventually get around to fixing it. Unless they just kill off the forums completely, which is very possible. You will notice they removed the "We heard you..." statement that's been up since the last attempted closedown.
Greetings, @gardenman! 😊
I tend to agree the problem was a simple mistake, easily corrected once someone got around to it.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, this website has a pattern of tech support assigned low priority.
Very low priority.
The "We heard you... " statement is still there (for what it's worth)... but of course after what happened last year who knows how long the Community will be here for us.
Hope you're doing well!😊
