We have a new Apple computer and an HP Office Jet Pro that is a few years old. I am mostly interested in printing really good quality photos and don't think I am getting them with this printer. I wondered if you all had any suggestions for one that might be better. Thanks!

I have a couple of Canons that I like. They are a very good brand and have models from the most basic up to the most high-end.
All I really need is that at least one of mine has fax capability, all have 'print/scan/copy' and all are wireless. In that mid-range there are many models.

Love Canon printers. Will not buy any other brand!

I have an HP all in one, model 8600. I am sure there are other model numbers but I have never been disappointed by HP.
I am not a Canon fan. I have a customer service incident that I don't think I will ever forget. So Canon is not one of my personal choices. Wish I had bought the item from Amazon. They would have been no the case and on my side.

I don't have a recommendation on a model, but I am going to check out cartridge prices when I buy my next printer. It seems like whatever printer I buy, it has the most expensive replacement cartridges. I know you can refill the ones you have, but I'd rather get new ones and recycle the old ones.

Hello Baylie
Since you already own a Mac computer and perhaps already have an iDevice (iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone) you may consider strongly getting a, Air Print comparable printer to use.
What is an Air Print, please look here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
There are many printers available in the market that do an excellent job printing pictures. HP do come first in our mind when we choose for a printer but surely lately, their help/support services is so hard to "understand" and you may as well get away from them even though, they do make some good printers.
As we stayed away from that brand, there so many others to choose from and one that I was able to find for you is perhaps this http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_print...
If you do like it, try googling and find its price for under what Canon wants, you shall find several!

On 1/11/2014 CoolingWaters said: I just went through the nightmare of searching for a new printer. I think now is a good time to buy actually. Good reduced pricing. I did not want an hp again. I wanted an all in one. I wanted wireless, double-sided, well, almost all printing features. I can't speak for photos, but I purchased an Epson workforce 3530. It's large! So, not a space saver, but the ink is good quality and too expensive. I haven't printed photos, but I have printed beautiful regular color copies. I'm very happy with it. I set up through my Mac in a snap. Works great with my PC too.Oops. I meant NOT too expensive. I can replace the color cartridges separately here also. One reason I did not want hp again was that I couldn't print on the remaining ink if another color was out. I had three previously. The y did, however, last a long , long, time, until I used cheaper brand cartridges, and they never worked again! I'll never make that error again with any model. I also had a KODAK which was horrible. I have a Dell that has serviced me for years for thousands of copies, but not photos, color copies, etc. I spent a lot of time researching in stores and online. In the end, Wally had the best prices, and I purchased it online with free shipping and free items came along with it. I do wish I could have bought American made. Good luck with finding what's perfect for your particular needs.
