Re: I have internet explorer.........

Luvmyteddy - do NOT use explorer until Microsoft releases the fix and it is installed on your PC.

If Chrome is ""too small"" for you go to the settings and change the Zoom percentage to a size that is more comfortable for you.

I have 11 and they said don't use 9-11. I am in chrome now but it is too small for me. They said on the news to make sure you have a anti-virus program which I do. Should I be using the explorer? It's the only one I know.

You should not be using IE at all. You can install Google Chrome . I use Chrome. This is how to import your favorites into Chrome.

I found the printer print thank goodness, now I can see.

Also will someone please notify us when explorer is safe to use again. I ran a scan on MS but I can't check my banking because all of my passwords are set up on Explorer. I hope they fix this soon.

I've never had this problem happened to me..... not yet anyway. Do you normally leave your computer on 24/7, restart, shutdown, sleep, or hibernate at the end of the day? I normally select sleep (I get on and off my computer throughout the day). I have to either do a soft reboot or shutdown within 2 days. {The computer nerds are going to blast me for doing that, but.... ppprrrrrttttt......}

I leave my desktop on 24/7. It goes into sleep mode after 4 hours. If I go away, I shut it down. I usually turn off the monitor. I do not leave my laptop on.

I don't use favorites but in chrome I don't know how to make the print bigger. In explorer I had a button at the top to enlarge the print. I can barely see this.

Also will someone please notify us when explorer is safe to use again.

To make the text larger. Hold down the Control key(CTRL) and move your mouse this will increase or decrease the text.

Re: I have internet explorer.........

Is this something that I will have to do myself once they fix it or will MS just fix it?

I get updates from Adobe and I am always leery whether to install what? Adobe says they will automatically install updates if I don't but I just looked and I still have some.

Remember I have brain fog so this computer stuff doesn't make sense to me anymore. I am afraid to install anything anymore or do updates.

I never have problems with the internet so I don't usually worry.

I'm sure MS will issue a patch when they have one, but it will be up to you to download and install it. You may want to turn auto-updates on now, if you don't have them set now.

I have my computer set up to notifiy me when there is an update but not to automatically download or install updates. That way I can can download and install when I finish whatever I'm working on and it won't slow me down or give me a "Restart now/restart later" message.

Re: I have internet explorer.........

Starlight1, I was looking around and found this tidbit of information. I am not sure if it will assist you and it does sound complicated. I am far from being tech savvy, but there has to be a way to recover your passwords. This may help, but I would hold off until others have a chance to reply. Note: even though our computers do handy things for us, it is always good to have a hardcopy stored somewhere of all your websites and their passwords.

MS is not going to like this, but it's the best way to do it without having to install 3rd party password recovery apps and the like.
1. Download and install the newest Google Chrome.
2. Open Chrome, go to Settings, under the Users section, click "Import bookmarks and settings"
3. Make sure the From: is filled with Microsoft Internet Explorer, tick all of the boxes, then click Import.
4. Restart Chrome, go to the website you want to retrieve a password for and login using the remembered credentials.
5. Go to Chrome settings again, click Show Advanced Settings, under the Passwords and Forms area, click Manage saved passwords.
6. Find the site you are looking for, click the password field corresponding to it and click "Show". VoilĂ !

Also, if you really need to get into your banking sites before MS corrects this, you can sign into the banking website and when it asks for password, it will usually give you a prompt if you forgot your password. They will ask a few questions then send you an email to reset it. Some banking sites are more stringent and will require you to call them in order to have a password reset.

The fix will probably come as an automatic Windows update.
