IPAD OR IPHONE???????

I have a regular computer at home and I have wi-fi. I do not text. I have an older phone that works fine or I can upgrade it at Verizon. I would like to be able to access the internet when I go somewhere out of the house or in the house. I love to take pictures of my grandchildren. What are the pros and cons? Can I download information from the ipad to my computer? I am in my 60's and don't need all the technical things, but I would love to play games (brain games too). I love to send email and look up things on the net. I understand there are apps you can download at a small cost. Which would be easier to use? What is your opinion? Thank you.
