So we signed up for a free trial week of Hulu. Wanted to catch up on a tv series. I was very surprised to find that they interrupted the program often for commercials.

Is this just because I am doing a free trial or does Hulu always interrupt their programming with commercials?

Netflix doesn't do that.

Both the free web based Hulu and Hulu + have commercials in the newer TV content. But the commercials vs broadcast TV commercials are a lot shorter.

Nope; they have ads regardless.

But they often ask you (upper left) if it's apropos or if you wish to swap it, as they're trying to get the most helpful ones for their customers.

Great customer service too, BTW.

Netflix does not have recent episodes of current series and specials. That's the biggest reasons why I have HuluPlus.

(+ Netflix & Amazon Instant Video)

Yep! And there's much less of them.

Yup, commercials on hulu. And they tend to play the same ones over & over. It's annoying but the shows are a lot more current and they have a lot more to pick from.

Thanks everyone. AFter using Netflix I didn't like Hulu as well. I'm used to no commercials and the ffwd and reverse are very cumbersome. Very annoying.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping the commercials were just because it was a free trial.

Hulu+ is less/month and that is why they feature ads. They are not as frequent or as many as the free Hulu.

To me it seems like hulu+ has less commercials that watching the shows on demand.
