How to speed up pc

Hi, Does anyone out there know what I can use to clear any junk from my computer? It has slowed down considerably..and since I get a TON of junk and spam mail..I thought that maybe there is something out there that would help...it is only about 6 months old. It is the Acer quad core. thanks.
